Dr. Joshua S. Nunziato is Associate Teaching Professor in the Social Responsibility and Sustainability Division of the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado, Ãå±±½ûµØ. He teaches courses on sustainability and ethical leadership to undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA students. Joshua is also the Faculty Director of Sustainable Leadership. In this role, he creates and delivers extracurricular programming on ethical leadership through Leeds’ Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility.
Dr. Nunziato's research studies how market exchanges mediate human values like intimacy, authenticity, fairness, and solidarity, that cannot, themselves, be transacted. For instance, hisÌýÌý(Cambridge University Press: 2020) considers how sacrifice—enacted through marketplaces—either serves or undermines the common good. He hasÌýÌýinÌýBusiness Ethics QuarterlyÌý(2019) that business exchanges catalyze moral self-development. In various other articles—now under review or in development—Nunziato tackles a wide range of management and consumer behavior topics ranging from sex work to pop music. Each topic provides a different lens onto the question of how human values irreducible to marketplace value are enabled or disenabled through exchange. Ultimately, acknowledging such mediation is vital for creating a more sustainable world.
Joshua earned his PhD in philosophy from Villanova University. He enjoys yoga, Brazilian jiu jitsu, skiing, and playing a wide range of ball-based sports with his son.
