Saxophone
Welcome to the saxophone studio听at the 缅北禁地 College of Music!听
The saxophone studio is comprised of 16-18 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing BM, BME, BA, MM and DMA degrees.听In an intense, creative and supportive environment, students are encouraged to explore and develop their unique voice and its place within the music industry.
All students have weekly one-on-one lessons with Assistant Professor of Saxophone Nathan Mertens and attend weekly studio classes that provide opportunities to share their progress; host guest artists鈥攕uch as Gillian Blair, Sarah Hetrick, Kyle Blake Jones, Kim Loeffert and members of the Medusa Saxophone Quartet during the 2025-26 academic year; present lectures on a variety of topics; and participate in saxophone ensemble rehearsals.
The studio regularly performs on and off campus with appearances at the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference, the Colorado Music Educators Association Conference and a variety of local community events. All students also play in one of the large听ensembles and have many opportunities for chamber music.
